About me

I am a professional writer living in Cumbria. After a career as a  promotions director for BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Five Live and BBC Two, I now make a living providing professional copy writing, marketing and promotional services to public and private sector clients in Cumbria, Lancashire and the North West, teaching poetry in schools,  writing features for publication in print and online, blogging and as a motivational speaker.

For the past 10 years I have been a regular contributor to Cumbria Life Magazine and have had features published in a wide range of national and specialist magazines, newspapers, books and websites including The Times, and The Sunday Times.  I have also provided copywriting, PR and promotional services to many small and large local companies.

In 2009 I was an Associate Artist for Lit Up national live literature consortium and an ambassador for live literature in Cumbria. I was part of a three woman show at Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre. I contributed to Red Sky Writers BBC Radio 4 play Heft Like the Herdwick and won The Crack playwriting competition on BBC Radio Cumbria.

I run a website and blog on Family Adventure and have contributed to several travel books. My children’s poetry book ‘More Fun When I’m Mum’ is being published later this year. I am regularly engaged as a motivational speaker.
